Alex Round

Alex is currently an AHRC funded doctoral researcher in Pre-Raphaelite Art and Literature at Birmingham City University. Her project is funded by Midlands4Cities. She has a BA Hons in English Literature and Language at Birmingham City University and also completed a MRes in Humanities at Newman University.

Alex’s research concerns the creative, domestic, and political friendships formed between Pre-Raphaelite women and how their networks informed their individual and collaborative artistic practice. She is also an enthusiast of Pre-Raphaelitism as a whole, as well as Gothic literature and prose and poetry of the nineteenth century.

Alex is also a Visiting Lecturer in English at Birmingham City University and the University of Warwick and is a qualified ALevel and GCSE Literature teacher. Alex is a regular reviewer and contributor for the Pre-Raphaelite Society, and elected trustee for the Birmingham & Midland Institute. As of 2022, she is a co-founder of the Pre-Raphaelite Society Podcast and the Society’s Graduate Network. The link to her Midlands4Cities student profile is here.
